Hymn #3: Are You Washed in the Blood?

posted in: Hymn Project | 1

I’m about to reveal my inner-Baptist.

I decided we needed a fun, upbeat hymn to add to our repertoire and this is one that a friend recommended.  Call us cheesy but we have a good time singing it.  Especially with Jordan on bass. 🙂  And I’ve decided that the first two verses are ones a mom should sing to herself all day long.

Are You Washed in the Blood?
Elisha A. Hoffman

Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white!
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for His presence bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb.

I found a brief history here.  And I couldn’t find a version I loved, but since I’m revealing things, I may hate not care for country music but I enjoyed this more than I probably should have…Don’t judge me. 🙂

  1. I loved this! I never saw it before, and I enjoyed it. I love all kinds of music, classic rock, Christian rock, Christian rap, and now? Country hymns! How fun!
